Precautions for the use of concrete mixers

Concrete mixers are indispensable equipment in construction, and the safety and effectiveness of their operation are directly related to the quality of construction and personnel safety. The following are several key aspects that need to be paid attention to when using concrete mixers:

Equipment inspection and installation

Before using a concrete mixer, a comprehensive equipment inspection is required. Check that the motor, reducer, and sensors are functioning properly and that the transmission is well lubricated. Furthermore, ensure that no foreign matter is present in the mixer’s transmission, mixing blades, or other components. The mixer should be installed on a flat and compacted ground, and the mechanical installation should be stable and firm. During installation, the front and rear axles should be padded to make the tires empty to prevent movement during startup.

Operating procedures

Unidirectional rotation: The mixer should rotate in one direction for mixing to avoid mechanical failure and uneven mixing of materials.
Feeding and unloading: When feeding, it is forbidden to put your head or hands into the mixer, and it is forbidden to put your hands or tools into the mixing drum to scrape and unload materials during operation.

Adding materials to the mixing drum should be done while the mixer is running, and new materials can only be added after all the existing concrete has been unloaded.
Fault handling: During operation, if a fault occurs and the work cannot continue, the power supply should be cut off immediately and the concrete in the mixing drum should be cleaned.

Safety measures

Leakage protection: The mixer should implement secondary leakage protection to ensure the safe operation of the equipment after the power is turned on. Before going to work, the equipment should be carefully checked and an empty car test run should be carried out to confirm that the equipment is normal.
Protective measures: A protective cover should be installed on the pulley component of the mixer, and no foreign objects should be stuck in the mixing drum, supporting transmission and moving parts, and the discharge door and track.

Maintenance and care

Daily maintenance: Operators should perform routine maintenance before, during, and after their shifts. Focus on checking the wear of components such as the winch feeding system, the material cart’s running wheels, and the wire rope pulleys, and ensure that the oil level in the lubrication system is within the normal range.Cleaning and lubrication: After the mixer is used, the stored materials and accumulated water in the machine, water tank and pipeline should be drained in time, and cleaned and maintained. At the same time, keep the operating room and the work site clean.

Other precautions

Avoid operations during thunderstorms and cut off system power when shutting down. Operators should be familiar with the structure and function of the equipment and follow correct operating procedures.
